The deluge has stopped for the moment and Northern California has thrown us one of those warm sunny days that makes you wonder if this year the weather gods have decided to skip straight to spring. It’s the kind of day that makes me dream of afternoons in wine country: a long bike ride past the vines or a simple picnic in a lovely park — bread, cheese, salumi and a smooth California red. Even the sunlight looks at ease, slanting low and golden.
So enough of this computer business for today. I’m out to sit on the patio, do a crossword, eat pistachios, and read my book (Jancis Robinson’s Tasting Pleasure, about her rise to wine writer queendom. I’m learning learning…).
