According to this businessweek.com article by Michaela Schiessl, many revelers at Oktoberfest 2006 enjoyed their beer with a side of wine.
In total, 6.5 million guests drank 58,000 liters (or 15,320 gallons) of wine. That’s about 77,333 bottles, or 129 times as much as I’m making this year. Sounds like a lot, until you compare it to the 6.9 million liters (1.8 million gallons) of beer that they also consumed. 102 oxen and 500,000 chickens gave their lives to the thirsty masses, as well. Bawk bawk bgawk.
I wonder how wine is faring at this year’s festival?
